    Exclusively handpicked according to the two leaves and bud method, Ceylon Green Tea from Browns Plantations is exclusively manufactured according to the traditional Chinese method and follows the same grading.

    Newburgh Factory was originally built in 1903 for Black Tea Manufacture and is located 701 meters to 1,291 meters above sea level of Uva in Newburgh Estate. It is surrounded by famous tourist destinations such as Ravana Ella waterfall, the mini World's End and Namunukula Peak. Newburgh factory was converted to a green tea factory in the year of 2008. We have adopted the Chinese method of green tea manufacturing and have installed state of the art machinery, some locally fabricated, by using domestic resources and technology.

  • What is Ceylon Green Tea?

    Ceylon Green Tea is the type of green tea grown in Sri Lanka. Formerly known as Ceylon, the tea varieties grown in Sri Lanka are given the geographical indication of Ceylon Tea. Ceylon Green Tea is exclusively handpicked and is manufactured using the orthodox method, which infuses it with a unique flavour and aroma.

  • How is Ceylon Green Tea different from other green teas?

    Grown at a higher altitude than other green teas, Ceylon Green Tea is darker and deeper in colour and is more robust and full-bodied than other green teas. Unlike other green teas grown in the region, Ceylon Green Tea has a robust body, a slight yet pleasant aroma, and a nutty or malty flavour.

    Due to being handpicked and orthodox-made, Ceylon Green Tea contains a higher amount of antioxidants and vitamins as compared to other green teas.

    All three types of Ceylon Tea contain caffeine, Ceylon Green Tea contains a moderate amount of caffeine. One cup of Green Tea can consist of 15 mg – 35 mg of caffeine. Not as much as caffeinated Ceylon Black Tea, Ceylon Green Tea is ideal for tea lovers who prefer less-caffeinated brews.

    Gunpowder Tea is a form of tea in which the green tea leaf is rolled into a bullet-like shape also known as a pallet. Gunpowder 1 and Gunpowder Special are the two varieties of Gunpowder. Used in many ways including for cold brews, cocktails and mocktails, Gunpowder has a unique flavour profile. Reducing the risk of cancer, and heart disease, and increasing neuron connectivity because of its antioxidants are some major health benefits of Gunpowder Green Tea.
