Commercial Forestry
Commercial forestry ventures of the Browns Plantations mainly focus on producing timber and firewood.
Furniture or offices and households is the primary by-product of wood, it's also used in manufacturing toys, cartwheels, and kitchen equipment like cutlery items, plates and cups. Minimising the consequences of deforestation, harvesting is done with minimum harm to the ecosystem.
Cultivated in all three plantations Maturata, Udapussellawa and Hapugastenne, wood is derived from plants named Eucalyptus Cadaghi (Corymbia torelliana/ Eucalyptus torelliana), Brown Sandalwood (Acacia mangium), Moluccan Albizia (Albizia moluccana/Falcataria falcata) to manufacture wood-based products. We own an area of 1397.91 HA for our commercial forestry cultivation.
